Todmorden, & Todmorden and the Great War

 "A short History of Todmorden" published in 1912, contains nearly 300 pages with over 20 photographs etc. It covers the geology of the area, neolithic man, the Roman occupation, Danes, place names and dialect, mediaeval churches etc, the Reformation period, Trade and industry, the railways and the Todmorden of 1912. Lots of names with an insight into life of the times.  "Todmorden and the Great war" published in 1922 deals with both the fighting men and those left at home to carry on. Lots of names of both groups of people, with a transcription of all of those on the large war memorial. Over 250 pages with over 30 photographs. It should be noted that the printing of this book is not the best in the world, however the whole of the book is quite readable and searchable.
